1. Members' German Dinner - Wednesday 28 February, 2018

A German-themed meal with silver service in a comfortable, spacious yet cosy, function room at Weybourne House. Tickets: £23.50 each.

2. Spring Lecture: "What is German about German music?" - Monday 16 April, 2018

Speaker: Professor Erik Levi, Visiting Professor of Music, Royal Holloway College, University of London
Where: Council Chamber, Millmead House, Millmead, Guildford GU2 4BB
Professor Levi is a musicologist, performer, critic and broadcaster whose special area of interest is music during the Third Reich. He is the author of numerous books including Mozart and the Nazis, The Impact of Nazism upon Twentieth-Century Music and Music under German Occupation,1938-1945 (to be published in 2019).
He will explore for us - as Richard Wagner attempted in the nineteenth century - the features of German music that make it distinctive from other musical traditions. His lecture will be supported by recorded musical examples.

3. Film and story-telling evening – Wednesday 30 May, 2018

An evening with Freiburg filmmaker and photographer Telemach Wiesinger (in English).
Open to the public: a paying event, with a discount for GFA members.
4. Picnic in the Castle grounds – Saturday 2 June, 2018
When: Saturday 2 June 12:30 – 4:00 pm
Where: Guildford Castle grounds
The Association will be running a stall promoting the twinning, with fun activities for children, at this event organised by Guildford Borough Council.
Bring a picnic and your children, grandchildren, nephews, nieces … suitable for adults too.
Open to the public: admission free.
5. AGM – May or June, 2018

6. Members’ summer lunch party – Sunday 19 August, 2018
When: Sunday 19 August from 1:00 – 4:00 pm
Where: Merrist Wood College, Holly Lane, Worplesdon, Guildford GU3 3PE
Once again, our lunch party will be held in the college’s beautiful and historic wood-panelled room opening on to a lovely garden.
