2.   Film and conversation with Telemach Wiesinger – Wednesday 30 May, 2018

When:     Wednesday 30 May, 2018 - 7:30 pm

Where:   Guildhall, High Street, Guildford GU1 3AA

Telemach Wiesinger, a German photographer and film-maker with a poetic sensibility, will present and discuss (in English) a selection from his works. Presentation followed by Q & A.

Telemach documents the outside world with a sensitivity to details that ordinarily pass us by. Referencing early film aesthetics, his short film poems in black and white are largely composed of sequences of single camera set-ups and continuous takes, creating a strange tension between movement and stasis, permanence and transience. Often working in collaboration with composer and multi-instrumentalist Tobias Schwab, he fuses playful humour and formal precision. The works are meditations on the everyday, often banal - urban spaces, ports, railways, where human life is either absent or transitory.

Works include: "Die Ankunft Eines Zuges" (2011); "Europa" (2012); "Passage" (2008); and "Doppelgänger" (2017).
