You will find some pointers below to help you find a work experience placement. Unfortunately, it is not easy to find a placement in Freiburg itself because of high demand from local young people and a shortage of placements. You might need to look elsewhere in Germany.

Commercially arranged work experience placements:

Blue Stamp Travel (formerly Halsbury Travel Ltd) organise work experience placements for 16-18 year-olds in various European countries, including Germany. Please note that while our Education Liaison Committee Member, in his former life as a teacher, used the company’s services more than once and was very pleased with them, neither he nor any member of the GTA can accept any liability for the company or its services.

Adult supervision/support is provided for each group of placements. Accommodation is in A&O hotels/hostels, and the current fee for participation including transport is approximately £750 per person.

There is extensive information on their website,  at www.bluestamptravel.com/uk-visits, and they say they are happy to discuss individual needs with teachers and parents.

Arrangements through school contacts

Individual school contacts may help in finding a work experience placement, especially if a Guildford family is able to offer to reciprocate accommodation for a young person from Freiburg. If you/your school would like to establish a link with a Freiburg school, please email us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
